Pamoja Life

Some people live to work, but we were created first to have life, and that abundantly. Life – living – encompasses our purpose and work (which the rest of this site is about) and also the experiences and relationships that make up the rest of life. Here is a selection of articles we’ve written about life in Africa. This isn’t particularly meant to be exhaustive – but it’s an indication of who we are and what we we like to do when we’re not in the office. We hope it will help you understand and engage with us as we together disciple cultures through media (and have fun and challenges along the way). Now, on to the articles. Enjoy!

What Were You Expecting

This is the outline text of a message given by Jeremy Feser at the Arusha Vineyard on Dec 19th, 2010 as part of the Christmas family service which featured an incredible time of singing with the Sowers Group. Medical Considerations

In An Emergency Tanzania’s medical system is not great, but there are resources and options in case of emergency. In Arusha we have several good clinics where you can get blood work, x-rays, and medical assessments done. The ALMC (Arusha Lutheran Medical Center) has recently been completed and offers very good services. For serious emergencies, Nairobi is a short airlift [...]

Stuff To Bring

Stuff To Bring Here in Arusha, there’s never a guarantee of having power, so if you’re coming to Pamoja it’s definitely a good idea to have a flashlight available. You’ll need it for all kinds of random tasks – such as opening the lock box where the car keys are stored, and finding the stairs going up to the triplex. [...]

It’s in the (e)Mail…

If you didn’t get that email from me, I am very sorry. Working in Africa provides an additional layer of complications to the average work day. Our Internet connection leaves much to be desired. Because of the extremely low bandwidth (from 0.1KB/s to 10.0 KB/s is normal), using the Internet at Pamoja Ministries can prove to be quite a frustrating [...]
